Tim Loney, Deputy Director
Tim Loney oversees MVAA’s Strategy, Strategic Communications & Customer Engagement and Targeted Outreach and Performance Management divisions.
In 2014, after 28 years of service, he retired from the Army as a colonel and returned to Michigan. During his time in the military, he served in key leadership positions at the tactical, operational and strategic levels to include Deputy Chief of Staff for Civil Military Operations for both the Eighth Army in Korea and the Southern European Task Force in Italy. In addition, he is a combat veteran with deployments in support of Iraqi Freedom and operations in the Balkans. Prior to his appointment, he served as the West Michigan regional coordinator for MVAA.
His awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit; six Meritorious Service Medals; a Joint Service Commendation Medal; five Army Commendation Medals; and numerous theater and campaign decorations. In addition, he has earned the Expert Infantryman Badge, Parachutist Badge and Ranger Tab.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Ferris State University, a master’s of business administration from Regis University and a master’s in strategic studies from the United States Army War College.
